EUCF 2016

During the weekend of the 1st and 2nd October 2016, the Mooncatchers travelled to Frankfurt to participate in the European Ultimate Championships Finals, better known as the EUCF. These are the European Club finals, which one could compare to the Champions League of Ultimate Frisbee.

The final result was 15th out of 24, only just missing the opportunity to play for the top 8.

It was a great weekend, overall. For sure, there was a bit of disappointment in the air considering our ranking achieved last year (4th), but still, 14th was an honorable one.

We missed the pre-quarters because of one single point, losing against our good French friends from Tchac 15 to 14. The match was an epic battle which turned to their advantage at the end.

For the first time in the history of our club, we beat Chevron Action Flash (with a callahan from Benoît Spapens at Universe Point) and Fire Of London, two very good teams from England.
We were less inspired by the Danish, and lost against Ragnarok and KFK Ultimate.
We also met two teams from Pragua, FUJ and Yellow block; we won both those games. It has to be said that it's the first time in the history of Mooncatchers that we win the last game of a big tournament like EUCF or Worlds.
So all in all, 4 wins, 3 losses and a point difference of 0, with an average spirit score of 10.29.
